Parallel collects only what we need to match you with other travelers: your email address (for authentication), a display name and optional bio, the places you've added to your Passport, your Top 8 selections, optional tips and stories you write, and basic stats derived from this data (countries, continents, explorer score).
Your places and tips power the matching algorithm. They are visible to other users only when those users have at least one overlapping Top 8 destination with you. Your full Passport and tips become visible to a match only after both of you mutually wave at each other (a "reveal").
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use third-party analytics SDKs that profile you.
Your data is stored on Supabase (Postgres), hosted on AWS infrastructure. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth. We do not maintain our own servers.
You can edit or delete any place, tip, or piece of profile data at any time from inside the app. You can block any other user, which immediately tears down the match between you. You can permanently delete your entire account from Settings → Delete Account; this cascades all places, tips, matches, and stats.
Parallel is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under those ages.
